Description

Glazed tile of 20x15 cm inspired by the advertising tiles of the Caramulo Museum.

In the Caramulo mountains in northern Portugal, the Caramulo Museum was inaugurated in 1959. Resulting from the private initiative of brothers Abel Lacerda, an art enthusiast, and João Lacerda, a car collector, these two internationally renowned collections are still maintained today.

The marketing strategy adopted by the Caramulo Museum involved placing advertising tile panels on strategic roads to guide travelers. On these panels, in addition to the indication “Caramulo / Museum” and the information on the distance to the destination, one can see the iconic image of a car – the Peugeot Type 19. Its choice was not random: this vehicle, dating from 1899, is the oldest in the collection and represents the museum's commitment to preserving and displaying treasures from past eras.

About the production

Printing with ceramic pigments on glazed tiles at a temperature exceeding 930ºC, ensuring the durability of the colour even in outdoor environments.
